Cinema is far more than just filming actors while they talk. With tools like composition, lighting, production design, etc., a story’s possibilities are limitless.

This three-week workshop will focus on merging powerful imagery with coherent visual storytelling to create emotionally resonating narratives.

Each workshop will start with examining what makes certain images resonate with an audience and how to utilize them into your story.

Each filmmaker will be asked to bring in a scene of their choosing. The workshop will identify the necessities to visually tell the story of that scene and create a map of plot, perspective, audience emotion, and theme around which to create visuals that will tell the story. Each filmmaker will also leave having put together some storyboards and a very preliminary look book pages for their film.

The purpose of the Visual Storytelling workshop is to give filmmakers of any experience level a system of preparation to create visuals that will tell a story that is powerful and comprehensible.

3 week workshop. Limited to 8 directors. Ages 18+
